COLOUR AND FORM

Structure, light and surface

While paintings can be described as self-referential, the Interior/exterior is a theme that is often returned to over the years, and has formed the basis on which to build a continued body of work.

Exploring the line between painting and sculpture and the use of material process stems from my fascination with how natural light effects, surface, space and colour.

Many paintings are made using a structured frame over which canvas is laid in segments, to form hollows and folds that are then permanently secured.

The structured surface of these paintings subtly alters with the changing light source outside the picture plane.
